Christmas Handout

A mountain chickadee comes to hand in rural Wasco County on Christmas Day. The bird was part of a mixed flock that also included black-capped chickadees and red-breasted nuthatches. The active birds could be seen hiding the bounty of seeds—black sunflower and peanuts—in the crevices of nearby tree before flying back for more.
