North Wasco County School District and its D21 Libraries are hosting their eighth annual Poetry Slam Thursday, April 17, at Riverenza.

Doors open at 3:45 p.m. All students and staff of the district are eligible to recite a poem for scoring. The public is invited to attend and loudly support the young poets. Riverenza is located at 401 E. 10th St.

The main event will be a rap-off between two teachers, Linear Ben Lin will square off against Sequential Seth Hedberg in a no-holds-barred rap off at 4 p.m. sharp.

When asked about this friendly competition, Hedberg said, “There’s nothing friendly about it. I’m tired of being trash talked by mathematicians. I’m ready to rip it up with Linear Lin!”

Lin was asked about this hostility, and he responded, “Look, if that historian can’t stand a little scrutiny of the numbers, then maybe he should take his toys and go home. Sequential Seth is going to get schooled. That’s all there is too it. End of story! He’ll have no wit; he’ll get no glory!”
