WISHRAM — The Washington State Department of Transportated has reopened a section of Highway 14 closed for fire fighting activies, although the speed limit has been reduced to 45 miles per hours through the area.

The Milepost 90 Fire north of Wishram started Tuesday on the Washington Side of the Columbia River Gorge and forced evacuations of dozens of homes. As of Thursday evening, no evacuation orders were enforced, according to the Klickitat Sheriff's Department.

WSDOT closed the road between Highway 197 and Highway 97 Tuesday evening as gusty winds fanned the flames.

Firefighters estimate the fire has burned through 14,200 acres of land and is 60 percent contained. No injuries have been reported and no structures have been lost.

WSDOT officials reopened Highway 14 at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Firefighters are working to control the flames and have not determined a cause.
