Presidents’ Day Salute

Like clockwork, American flags have gone up and come down in The Dalles on major holidays for 60 years. Above, scouts with Boy Scout Troop 398, chartered by the Catholic Church with Anthony Pereira as scoutmaster, make an early-morning run Monday to place flags along Second Street downtown for Washington’s Birthday, popularly known as Presidents’ Day, Feb. 17.
