Team Elite wins 4th title, qualifies for state

Bringing together a group of eight sixth graders and a fifth grader from local communities such as Hood River, White Salmon, Mosier, North Bonneville and The Dalles, The Gorge Elite Basketball team captured its fourth tournament championship last weekend in Hood River and qualified for the 500-team state tournament this weekend in Spokane, Wash., but action was halted due to the Coronavirus scare. The Columbia Gorge Basketball Academy also had a handful of other teams showcased on the hardwood at the Columbia Gorge Classic and the Pacific League Tournament last weekend to complete the 2019-2020 winter hoops session, with the seventh grade boys taking first place, and three other earning runner-up honors. TD girls end season with playoff loss at Silverton

SILVERTON – Down 37-12 at the half, The Dalles girls basketball team amped up the defensive tenacity and limited Silverton to six second-half field goals by only two different players, but could not get enough shots to fall to log a major threat as they worked a 20-16 second-half run in a season-ending 53-32 loss to the top-ranked Foxes in 5A state sub-round action Friday in Silverton.
