The Mt. Hood National Forest has closed a portion of the 16 Road, sometimes referred to as “Red Hill Road,” on the Hood River Ranger District. The road will be closed for the remainder of May and most of June due to timber harvest operations taking place in the area., according to the forest service.

The Badger Lake area remains closed due to a wildfire that started Oct. 3 and grew to approximately 80 acres early in the week due to dry and windy conditions, but is no longer actively burning, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Improved weather conditions slowed the fire Thursday, and it is no longer actively burning, although one Forest Service engine remains on scene. The closure order will be evaluated Tuesday and includes roads, trails and developed recreational sites.

Thompson Street between East 10th and 12th will be closed to through traffic, including emergency vehicles, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8 and 9.

The U.S. Forest Service announced Wednesday that a landslide has led to the indefinite closure of Larch Mountain Trail No. 441 near Multnomah Falls Lodge from Benson Bridge to the junction of the No. 400 trail.
