Over the last few years, Hood River Valley has been a thorn on the side of The Dalles girls tennis team. Tuesday was another story. In four doubles matches, TD cruised to a lopsided sweep and finished its 7-1 romp by scoring three of four singles wins in a varsity contest played at The Dalles High School.

Ready to rise another level in the varsity tennis circuit, The Dalles boys squad swept four doubles matches and claimed three of four on the singles side to secure a 7-1 triumph over McNary Monday in Keizer.

Steven Preston scored a tournament victory, Austin Greene placed second, JR Scott added a third-place showing and The Dalles wrestling team chalked up sixth place at the nine-team Hood River Elks Invitational Saturday in Hood River.

Over the past three years, Jason and Julie Hull have consistently shown that their shooting touch is second to none. While facing competitors from The Dalles to Baker City, the Maupin natives combined to shoot 40 of 50 to take home first-place honors for the third year in a row at the Elks Northeast District I Free Throw event held on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Sandstone Middle School in Hermiston.
