THE DALLES — The Dalles found another gear the Pendleton girls basketball team just couldn’t match late in Friday’s Columbia River Conference battle for second place.

The Riverhawks held off the Buckaroos 57-47 to earn the CRC’s second seed and a home game in the state play-in round.

Pendleton coach Michelle Gomez said The Dalles (12-10, 4-4 CRC) used a pick and roll to pick them apart on defense and capitalized at key moments late in the game.

“They just played really well at the end and we just weren’t playing at that level,” she said.

Iliana Telles led The Dalles with 21 points and Jodi Thomasian added 13.

Lauren Richards paced Pendleton (9-14, 4-4) with 13 points and Kalan McGlothan chipped in 10 before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

Pendleton finishes out the regular season on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. at Hermiston.

The play-in round will be held on Tuesday, March 1.
